Ned/Russell Sheriton
I sure didn't expect to ship this, and here we are. I love the slight shippy undertones in canon, the mutual respect these two have for the other. I love how much the actors made the parts their own, and yet how clearly the characters play into nationality tropes. I want more of their silly It's A Boy's Club homoerotic agent-speak ["I need your love" and "I loved you for it"] which manages to be *so* Le Carrean. Just ... explore this world. Show me the subtextual queerness in a backdrop of mountain cabins, London fog.
Ideas:
Make them significantly look at each other over these grey big tape recorders.
Have them praise each other's achievements, touch a hand, send faxes back and forth.
How does Russell feel about Ned's faith in Blair?
What's the interplay of both men's idealistic natures and their personal liking for one another?
What were they up to in that mountain cabin they sat around in for some time? Make it Unresolved Sexual Tension or make it Resolved Sexual Tension.
Have them fish manfully at a lake while a soulful saxophone plays the main theme. (:D)
If you aren't comfortable writing a shippy dynamic between them, be invited to make it about their collegiality and friendship. I'll enjoy that too!

Character bashing and a moral grey that veers too much into gritty. I know Le Carré's characters are angsty and Conflicted, but here I'd enjoy a different focus, please
Poirot TV
Poirot/Miss Lemon
While I love all of the dynamics of the TV Poirot gang, the idea of Poirot/Miss Lemon grew on me massively. Two slightly uptight nerd-ish, astute characters with sartorial taste which is the stuff of legends. Suchet and Moran ship it and you can see it in their acting.

I just love Japp. A lot. And he doesn't get the appreciation in fanfic that he deserves. <<3 This pairing is probably the opposite of Poirot/Miss Lemon. Where Lemon and Poirot find common ground thanks to their similarities, Japp and Poirot thrive despite (or because) of all of the opposites they represent. James Japp is really * the * incarnation of upper working-class hearty Englishness who is constantly baffled with, bemused with and even a little suspicious of Poirot's continental ways. And yet he adores and respects Poirot, in his prickly way. And vice-versa.

Holst and Vaughan Williams were at the forefront of the English Folksong revival. They took several walking trips together to collect folk songs around the countryside, and were working partners and friends since meeting as young men.
Vaughan Williams also was a cat nerd. He owned several, was (professionally) photographed with them at least once, and wrote letters from the point of view of one of them. It's precious.

Good lord, Pellew and Hornblower. Pellew is whipped, that old crusty chap.
I love how blatant but still subtle their dynamic is. Pellew's care for Hornblower can easily be seen as having a subtle flavour of queer to it, too.
If you decide to go for Hornblower/Pellew, I'd prefer it if you'd turn it into a intellectual/romantic/ambiguously queer/aesthetic infatuation on Pellew's side rather than an explicitly sexual one. And give Hornblower the actor's age at filming if you wish to mention it.
If you prefer to write a platonic dynamic between them, I would absolutely love that, too! Note: I must admit I'm not too fond of the third series' insistence to make their dynamic an explicitly father&son one (then again, I'm not too fond of series 3 for so many reasons xD) but prefer the ambiguity of the earlier seasons.

I am so charmed by these silly priests and their silly housekeeper and bishop and nemesis neighbours.
Ted&/Dougal
I love how much of a vaudeville comic duo these two are.
If you decide to write them as a ship, I'd prefer it if it was Dougal who initiates anything and if you'd attempt to keep it as equal as the canon allows. A shippy dynamic is entirely optional! I simply find of idea that poor Ted has a crush on Dougal (and vice versa) quite entertaining, which is just one of the many ways I enjoy canon. It doesn't mean there would be anything lacking if your story is focused on jokes and no 'ships. I love gen (and that goes for all fandoms).
Ted/Dick Byrne
Ted's hateboner is hilarious and I want more of it. It would be even funnier if the poor sod literally had a hateboner for old Dick Byrne.
I generally love any interactions between these characters. Feel free to include Jack, Mrs Doyle, Bishop Len- ...Brennan, or the Rugged Island lads and lass. Gen or crack or m/m, I enjoy any fluff, adventure or comedy with these folks.

Their dynamic, especially on Dr Grantly's part, is hilarious. I like how easy it is to imagine that part of Grantly's absolute disdain comes from him actually sharing the crush most women seem to have on Slope, as much as he's a slimebag. (No seriously, Slope is an absolute slimebag. Feel free to keep the disdain.) I'd love for this to be at least partly humorous, just as canon, since it's basically what makes the series so great (apart from the casting!). Feel free to keep it gen, of course, if that's what you prefer, and just have them exchange witticisms
Eleanor Harding & Septimus Harding
I like their quiet moments and conversations. A very cute father and daughter dynamic that I'd love to see more of. Eleanor looking after Harding, Harding looking after Eleanor, them just hanging around and strolling aroun' the place, gossiping. I don't mind period-typical gender dynamics here btw, so Eleanor really does not need #modern #girlbossifying for me to enjoy her character, she's already a period-girlboss 👍 (The no kidfic DNW doesn't apply btw. I don't mind seeing Eleanor and Harding raising Eleanor's kid(s?) together)
